This new restaurant is being built mainly on land that was unused, except for a waste tip. Had the building been confined to that area it would have been thought an asset. But it has been allowed to spill out into the gardens area. Hedges and mature trees have been removed to accommodate it, and instead of the natural backdrop to the lake in this area, the view will be of a steel and glass building. A smaller building, hidden by the existing greenery, would have been a much more appropriate addition to the gardens.
