This year's goslings are now almost indistinguishable from the adult birds. They are very slightly smaller, which is the only way to tell which they are. In a fortnight's time I doubt if it will be possible to pick them out from the flock.
But compare him with the cygnet whose photo appears on this and the previous page. They were both hatched at the same time, probably on the same day, and when newly hatched they were pretty much the same size. Yet the cygnet, although nearly as big as this goose, bears no resemblance to his parents yet and is still very much a chick.
